Career guidance held in Peren Government College

Young entrepreneur shares life mantra with students

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): A Career guidance cum group discussion program, organised by Prism Club in collaboration with Rural Organization for Advancement of People's Action Development Service (ROAPADS), was held in Peren Government College on July 15.  

Dr. Diheiraibe Ndang, M.D (General Medicine) and Namruttei Chilen, a young local businessman were the resource persons of the programme.  

During the event, Dr. Ndang shared on the importance of looking out for career other than the government jobs and the various scopes in the management sector, entrepreneurship and farming giving power point presentation.  

Further addressing the issue of usage of tobacco and alcohol, he said that two type of oral and liver cancer are preventable.  

Chilen, an alumnus of the college and a successful entrepreneur, also shared his life story. From a humble beginning, he narrated how he started earning from an early age and how he became totally independent by the time he reached 8th standard.  

He continued to pursue his studies and graduated with English honours by sponsoring his education by giving private tuitions, he added.  

Currently running a chicken butcher Business successfully, Chilen urged the students that his success is all because of the blessing of God and hard work.  

“The qualities needed to become a successful is determination with a positive mindset, humility and cheerfulness,” he added.  

The programme covered areas on social work, competitive exams, entrepreneurship, private sector and health education.  

Earlier, the President Prism Club, Keyizieteing Ndang gave a brief introduction about the club and emphasized on the motive of conducting the program, to create awareness about independent career pursuance and jobs/ employment opportunities other than government jobs.  

The Principal, Peren College, Dr . Katoni Jakhalu shared on the importance of changing one's mindset and keeping an open mind to learn new things.  

Later during the group discussion Rampauyi Ndang, President, Peren Students Union, P. David Ndang, Coordinator for Peace Channel, Peren District, Isapheing Hegwang, Isapraing Ndang monitored the programme.
