Cash award & insurance for MNREGAS beneficiaries distributed

Ukhrul |May 27 : With the pilot project of Life Insurance Co-Operation (LIC) and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) Workers tie-up in Ukhrul District, the declaration function of Bima Gram/cash award & Distribution of Micro-Insurance Policy for MNREGS beneficiaries was held today at Ukhrul District. The function was held at the mini Secretariat Multi-purpose Hall with Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner N. Ashok Kumar (IAS) and SDO Ukhrul Rajen Vishal (IAS) present as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The function was participated by the village representatives, locality Chairman’s, Committees, and especially the general beneficiaries of the MGNREGS in the district. During the function, a special Cash award of rupees 22,500/- were distributed to six local organization bodies viz Wino Tang (Locality), Viewland,Tushar village, Luiyainao Tang, Phungrei Tang West and Sepet Zingsho Tang.
Addressing the people, SDO Ukhrul Rajen Vishal (IAS) asserted that the award qualifies the meaning of sincere efforts of utilization in MNREGS assistance and expressed the deeds as an “extra-ordinary effort”. In regard to the LIC projects, Vishal further emphasized on the target as it reflects in the future beneficial policy of the beneficiaries that LIC secures, guarantee or provide assistances at a time when some bad things (tragedy/Casualty) happens towards any beneficiaries, turning the projects of Micro-Insurance push in Action forward. He also said that the man-day wages of MGNREGS is increased to Rs. 126 from Rs 81.40.
The DC Ukhrul N.Ashok Kumar (IAS) in his speech said that it is a good privilege to the people of Ukhrul, wherein  the people is still lacking in financial security to have such financial saving Policy, amid the fourth successful implementation of MGNREGS and termed the policy as an, “eye-opener”. He hoped that the benefits that will reach to the people and urged all concern beneficiaries to participate in Micro-Insurance Policy which is considered as a good scheme like an opportunity of “laying golden eggs”. MNGEGS implementation bring at hands with peoples participation reaching the benefits to the people concerning people maintain the scheme to implement in, “letter and spirit”, the DC added.
The Micro-Insurance Policy kits were disbursed over to 20 representatives of the Localities, Villages and Chairmen of the Organizations during the function. The function was organized by the Action for Rural development (AFORD) and facilitated by SDO Office Ukhrul. The function was closed with the vote of thanks presentation from P. Shimray, Chief Functionary AFORD.
