The Core Committee on Naga Political Issue (CCoNPI) today met Union Home Amit Shah in New Delhi and submitted its resolution taken earlier on July 16, 2022.
The delegation requested Amit Shah to expedite a solution to the Naga political issue as the election to the state assembly is approaching, informed Neiba Kronu, Nagaland’s Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs.
The 9 member team of CCoNPI, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio with Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton; UDA Chairman TR Zeliang; UDA Co-Chairman Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu; Ministers G Kaito Aye, Neiba Kronu, S Pangnyu Phom, Tongpang Ozukum and MLA Khriehu Liezietsu have been camping in New Delhi since September 8 for the purpose of meeting central leaders on the Naga issue.
According to a source, the Home Minister asked the delegation to ‘convince’ the NSCN (IM) leadership. However, it is not known in what way the team has been told to convince the latter.
Kronu said the team, on their return to Nagaland, will meet the NSCN (IM).
