Peren, October 19 (MExN): Namri Nchang, Parliamentary Secretary for Sericulture, Home Guards and Civil Defence formally inaugurated a Community Development Plan (CDP) project constructed under Northeast Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) at Inbung village in Athibung Block of Peren district on October 17.
The project was ‘provisioning irrigation facilities for the raised bed gardens and conservation of water catchment area by the community.’
In his speech, Namri appreciated the village leaders of Inbung and the Community Development Group (CDG) for their active participation in the successful completion of the CDP. He stressed the need for the villagers to have a maintenance plan for the infrastructures created and to use them judiciously as they belong to them, according to a press release from NERLP Peren.
Ruuvilie Kotsu, the District Project Manager, NERLP highlighted the progress of NERLP and the funds released to the SHGs and CDGs in various villages of Peren district till date. The total cost of the project was Rs. 13,99,220 (NERLP contributed Rs. 10,00,000 and the rest by the community in terms of labour and available resources in the village).
Rinsanbo Zeliang, State Coordinator, NERLP appreciated NERLP Peren district and block team and the villagers for their active participation in the successful completion of the project. The Head GB of the village also expressed his gratitude to NERLP.
Earlier, Hengoulal chaired the programme, while Thangkai, pastor, Inbung Baptist Church said the invocation prayer. Short speeches were delivered by village elders.
