Ceasefire agreements with three Naga Political Groups extended

Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The Government of India has extended the ceasefire agreement signed with three Naga Political groups for one more year.

A statement to this effect was issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) through the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Wednesday.

The MHA stated that Ceasefire Agreements are in operation between Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland/NK (NSCN/NK), National Socialist Council of Nagaland/ Reformation (NSCN/R) and National Socialist Council of Nagaland/K-Khango (NSCN/K-Khango).

“It was decided to extend the Ceasefire Agreements for a further period of one year with effect from April 28, 2022 to April 27, 2023 with NSCN/NK and NSCN/R and from April 18, 2022 to April 17, 2023 with NSCN/K-Khango. These Agreements were signed on April 19, 2022,” the statement read.

In a separate statement, the NSCN (R) Ministry of Information and Publicity informed that the Ceasefire Agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) was extended April 19, in New Delhi for a period of one year.

“The ceasefire was extended for furtherance of the congenial atmosphere between the GoI and the Naga people and to achieve lasting peace through a negotiated settlement to the Indo-Naga political problem,” the MIP stated.

Additional Secretary, North East (ASNE) Piyush Goyal, led the GoI and the NSCN (R) was represented by CFSB, Supervisor Eska Sumi Lokobomi, Kilonser Mughato Chophy, Kilonser Labaa Gangmei, Secretary Inaki Zhimomi and Secretary Mompa Konyak, the MIP stated.
