The Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) today reiterated the Party's stand against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 (CAB) and further resolved that the party Rajya Sabha member KG Kenye will vote against the Bill in the event the Bill is not withdrawn.
The CEC upheld the decision of the party's Core Committee to boycott the Consultative Meeting convened by NDPP-led-PDA Govt. at Chumukedima on 31st January 2019.
The NDPP-led-PDA Government has not opposed the Bill when it was tabled in the Lok Sabha on January 8, 2019 which is a clear indication that they have endorsed the bill in totality, the resolution stated.
As a matter of fact, the NDPP-led-PDA govt. has no moral right whatsoever to convene a consultative meeting either with the political parties or civil societies on this particular issue. The intention of the NDPP-led-PDA government in convening the consultative meet on January 31 at Chümoukedima, is to shift the blame to the political parties and civil societies, the resolution stated.
Further, the house resolved that, the NDPP-led-PDA govt. will be held solely responsible for any fall-out on the Nagas out of the CAB 2016.
The party reiterated the party's commitment on the ongoing peace process between the Government of India (GOI) and the various Naga Political Groups.
The CEC urged the negotiating parties and the GOI to expedite the political dialogue and bring to a logical conclusion at the earliest.
Meanwhile, while appreciating the Khango-led-NSCN (K) for joining the peace process, the CEC urged upon all other Naga political groups to be a part of the peace process as desired by the Naga people.
The CEC questioned the GoI as to why the solution to the protracted Naga Political issue has not been brought about till date in spite of the democratic commitment given to the Naga people “Election for solution”.
“Whereas, the people of Nagaland have faced two elections during the past 11 months and another 2 elections ie bye-election at 26 Aonglenden A/C and the Parliamentary Election which are in the offing, the resolution stated.
Further, the house viewed with all seriousness the statement made by RN Ravi wherein, he has stated while commenting on the Naga Issue 'surrender or light to the finish'.
The statement is unbecoming as he has been given assignment to find a solution and not to create problem, the resolution stated.
The CEC endorsed the President and the Leader of the NPF Legislator Party to take a call on the political re-alignment. Further, the house endorsed the President to constitute a committee to look into the bye-election at 26 Aonglenden A/C, the coming assembly and Parliamentary election in Arunachal Pradesh as well as Parliamentary election in Manipur 2019.
