Census 2011 phase II commences in Ukhrul dist

UKHRUL | JANUARY 21 : The Deputy Commissioner N. Ashok Kumar IAS along with Sub-Divisional Officer, Ukhrul on January 20 kicked-off the second phase of population enumeration of Census 2011 in Ukhrul.
The Principal Census officer (Census Department, Imphal) inaugurated the four day training programme for Supervisors and Enumerators.  500 Government employees have been selected as Census trainees to be assigned in the census operation mission. The trainees attended the function simultaneously at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and TTA Hall, Hamleikhong.
According to a press statement issued by the Ukhrul SDO, the trainees are strictly instructed in a “nut-shell” to impart the ideas to the common man of its benefits.
The employees would be doing the field work of population enumeration on 29 parameters around 230 villages of Ukhrul District from February 8 to February 28, 2011. The reference date for the same is 00:00 hours (midnight) of 01-03-2011.  One salient feature of census exercise this year is the inclusion of questions on various kinds of disabilities and occupational patterns, stated the Ukhrul Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Rajen Vishal on behalf of the District Administrator in a press note.
The Deputy Commissioner underlined the importance of the data collected during census exercise which is used for developmental planning and research purposes. He lauded the efforts of Charge Officers/SDOs in smooth conduct of training and field exercise and satisfactorily appreciated the unreserved contribution and tireless service in patience to all his sub-ordinate staffs with best compliment and the best endeavors in executing the important welfare interest best.
