Census is a tool for planning, says Hekali

Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): The Census awareness meeting conducted under the aegis of census director and organised by Naga council and Dimapur Naga Women Hoho was held today at Town hall, Dimapur.
A press note stated that around 400 people attended the meeting. All presidents and secretaries of tribal hohos, chairmen of village councils in Dimapur district, chairmen of colony councils in Dimapur urban, chairmen, conveners, presidents of various communities, GBs in sadar and district, NGOs and the general public also attended the said meeting.
Census director, Hekali Zhimomi, IAS and ADC Dimapur spoke at length. Hekali said that census is “a tool for planning”. She said that according to 2001 census fertility rate of Naga women fell but population increased, thereby exposing ourselves. “We lost credibility in 2001,” she said. ADC, Dimapur said that according to electoral roll and BPL records, “Nagas do not die.” President Naga Council, Savi Liegise also spoke during the programme, the press note said.
It also stated that the census director answered queries from the public. Rev. Dr. W. Lohe said the invocation prayer. Others who spoke were presidents of Dimapur District GB association, Dimapur Naga Women Hoho, DNSU, Western Sumi Hoho, Chakhroma Public Organisation.
