Central PDNA team assesses monsoon damage in Longleng & Tuensang

Longleng/Tuensang, October 7 (MExN): A Central Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) team from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), along with senior consultants, visited Longleng and Tuensang districts to assess damage caused by the monsoon and assist in post-disaster planning.

In Longleng, the team held a meeting with line departments under the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on October 7, where Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairman W Manpai Phom briefed it on the extent of damage caused during the monsoon season.

The PWD (R&B) and Agriculture and Allied departments presented their assessments of damage to roads, agricultural fields and other assets through presentations.

Representing civil society organisations, Phom Public Council President YB Angam Phom also highlighted the difficulties faced by the district.

The Central team advised departments to ensure that all actual damage and losses were properly documented to facilitate an accurate assessment and effective post-disaster planning.

In Tuensang, the Central PDNA team held an interaction with line departments at the DC’s Conference Hall on October 6, where Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa highlighted the damage caused by incessant rainfall and submitted detailed departmental reports to the team.

The team also visited a landslide-affected area at IOC, Post Office Ward, Tuensang town, to assess the ground situation, the State DIPR informed.

The team comprised Mickey Mecon Dalbehera, Scientist E, CBRI Roorkee; Rohit Kumar and Dr Gagandeep Singh, Assistant Professors, NIDM; Indranil Bose, Senior Consultant, Infrastructure Section; Shashank Mishra, Lead Consultant, NIDM; CP Mohan, Senior Consultant, Productive Section; and Chandani PC Senan, Senior Consultant, NDMA. NSDMA Assistant Manager (Relief, Recovery and Mitigation) L Jonjibemo Odyuo attended both the meetings.
