The Government of India has planned to sanction over Rs. 200 crore for undertaking various developmental activities in the four districts of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng and Kiphire within a span of 3 to 4 years.

Nagaland’s Governor Shyamal Datta informed this while gracing the 12th general conference of Tuensang & Mon Gazetted Officers Association (TMGOA) here this morning at Hotel Japfu. He urged upon the people to take care of the packages and march ahead through proper utilization of funds, efficiency, sincerity and dedication.

The Governor strongly advocated that utmost effort must be made for proper utilization of the funds so as to bring about improvement in the economic scenario of the four districts and help generate employment. The effective implementation of the schemes would contribute a quality of life in the four districts, Datta maintained.

Development activities be it public health, road, education, power etc. in the four districts is far from satisfactory and the districts remains at the bottom of the development ladder, Datta regretted and stressed on the need to amicably address the  deficiency and shortcomings to cope with the ever increasing standard of living.

Complimenting the commendable services being rendered by the officers, the Governor also called upon them to work harder to protect the interest and rights of the people and to take care of the aberration that undermines development, productivity and growth.

“You have to take the lead,” he insisted and asked them to convert their efforts and quality of leadership to change things for better. He also asked the officers to continue to lead and guide the people in different fields of governance for the development and growth of the society.

Datta also gave away the prestigious N.I Jamir Award to four officers in recognition of their outstanding contributions in government services.

The awardees are Hanchi Konyak (Civil SDO, Mon district), Chubasangla Chang, (vice principal of Sao Chang College, Tuensang), Litokyu Sangtam, (Forest ranger, Kiphire district) and Dr. Ongo Phom of Longleng district. The awards carried Rs. 10,000 each along with the certificate.
