DIMAPUR, JAN 13 (MExN): Under the Prime Minister Gram Sadhak Yojana (RMGSY) and implementation of Bharat Nirman Programme, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has provided total allocation of Rs. 100.00 crore for construction and upgradation of roads for Nagaland State. 165 roadwork’s for the length of 1508.11 kms have been completed out of 185 roadwork’s approved and total length of 1606.29 kms upto the end of September, 2005. The total of Rs.99.13 crores has been provided and unspent balance is Rs.7.82 crores as on 30/09/2005 excluding interest. The total amount of Rs.106.95 crores have been released so far for Phase I – IV, according to PIB press information.
The roadworks of Phase I and II have already been completed and out of 22 roadworks of Phase III, 10 roadwork have been completed and the balance of 12 roadwork was targeted to be completed by December, 2005 and Phase IV will be completed by June, 2006. The allocation of Phase V has been provided as Rs.25.00 crores.
The Government of India has provided under the Barat Nirman Programme, the estimated for connecting to 66,802 habitations by building 1.46 lakh kilometers of roads during the 2005-09. The programme also envisages upgradation of 1.94 lakh kilometers of the existing rural road network. A sum of Rs.48,000 crore is proposed to be invested on the PMGSY over years for achieving these goals.
