Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Election Commission of India has ordered a Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Rolls in Nagaland, with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date. This revision is an essential step in ensuring that the electoral rolls are up-to-date and accurate in preparation for the upcoming elections.
A press release from the CEO Nagaland informed that the process will begin on October 29 with the publication of the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll. From that date, eligible citizens can submit their claims for registration, using the relevant forms. The revision will accommodate not just those eligible as of January 1, 2025, but also individuals qualifying later in the year, with subsequent dates set for April 1, July 1, and October 1, 2025.
Applicants can use several forms depending on their needs. Form 6 is for new voter registrations, while Form 6B allows voters to voluntarily submit their Aadhaar numbers for authentication purposes. Those who wish to raise objections regarding the inclusion or deletion of names in the existing rolls can do so using Form 7. Meanwhile, Form 8 will enable voters to correct entries, shift their residence, or mark themselves as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the electoral roll.
The period for filing claims and objections will run from October 29 to November 28. Special campaigns will be held on November 8, 9, 22, and 23, 2024, to facilitate the process. After the claims and objections have been reviewed and resolved, the final publication of the electoral roll is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
Electors and applicants can submit their forms to Booth Level Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), or Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). Additionally, the forms will be available for download on the websites of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland. For convenience, applications can also be submitted online through the ECI’s website or the Voter Helpline App, which is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
