Certificate Course on Social Concern & Leadership concludes

The 6th edition of Certificate Course on Social Concern & Leadership (CCSCL), annually organized by, Prodigals’ Home, Dimapur in collaboration with National Council of Churches India (NCCI) formally concluded at Prodigals’ Home Conference hall on May 15.  

Lipok Jamir, Pastor, Diphupar Ao Baptist Church, who graced the function as the main speaker in his message asserted, “We are called to be the light of the role.” While stating that, “our apathies, inconsistencies and spiritual dryness are reasons of our failures to address impinging corruption and social issues boldly,” he challenged the people of the church to receive the light referring to John 1: 12, “walk in the way of the Lord and reflect the way through compassion and sacrificial service.”  

K Ela, Director, Prodigals’ Home welcomed the gathering and highlighted about the course. CCSCL which started in 2013 have trained 142 students till date. She stated that the main objective of the course is “to train future church leaders and social workers to respond appropriately on prevailing issues.” This year, 30 students from different theological college, social work, law and other courses undertook the course, she informed.  

Trainees of the course, Mesewe-ii Therie, Merpeni P Kikon, Patangshi Jamir and Likokyangba shared experience and learning form the 15-day course. Sharing their experiences, they remarked on the impact of in-depth training on social issues which has broadened their mindset and further inculcate concerns such issues in their everyday lives for a social and spiritual cause. Some of them added that a compulsory paper should be incorporated in theological and other secular courses.   

Shitovi, Coordinator, NEI Action Desk, NCCI also briefed that the NCCI is a confederation of 30 Church member organization, 17 Regional Christian Councils, 18 All India Christian organization, 7 related agencies and 2 autonomous bodies.
