CFD calls for cooperative action to combat pandemic

DIMAPUR, JUNE 11 (MExN): The Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) held a talk show and a meeting on June 9 at Bishop’s House, Dimapur. 


It was attended by the office bearers and the advisory members of the Forum. The meeting began with an invocation prayer by Rev Vitoshe Swu, Vice-Chairman, Christian Forum Dimapur. 


Rev Moses Murry, the Chairman of CFD highlighted the activities that the forum has been rendering since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. These include distribution of food grains, tele counseling, online care and prayer facilities, distribution of masks etc. 


The forum appreciated the government officials, frontline workers and different civil society organizations for their efforts to combat the pandemic. It appealed to the general public to cooperate with the frontline workers in implementing activities for the wellbeing of the people.


Requesting the government to use funds judiciously with accountability and transparency, the forum also called for enhanced collaboration with civil society organizations and churches. It meanwhile appealed to Churches and all civil organizations in following the Standard Operating Procedure in letter and spirit.


The forum also requested the Dimapur district administration to seal the road from the Railway station to the Agri Expo before the train arrives with the stranded passengers from different parts of India rather than enforcing complete lock down of Dimapur Town. 


The meeting concluded with a talk show. Gugu Heralu facilitated the talk show while Rev Moses Mury, Chairman, CFD, Rev Vitoshe Swu; Vice Chairman, CFD, Rev Dr Papheno Angami; Advisor to CFD and Fr Dr  CP Anto, Secretary, CFD spoke on various issues concerning COVID-19. 


The speakers highlighted the importance of collaborating with the government at this moment of crisis, the activities rendered by the Christian Forum, the role of the churches in the pandemic situation, elimination of stigma and discrimination etc..
