Medziphema, July 22 (MExN): A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Community First Responder (CFR) Training was held at the ADC conference hall, Medziphema on July 21. The meeting was organised by Can Youth, in partnership with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), and in collaboration with the Office of the ADC Medziphema, Medziphema Town Council and DDMA Chümoukedima.

The training programme is scheduled to run for a week, culminating in a public mock drill on the last day to raise community awareness and a formation of team post training and one CFR to be a member in Ward and Village Disaster Management Authority. 

The session was chaired by Zhove Lohe, Secretary and Director of Can Youth welcomed all the Ward Councilors and Village Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) of Selected Villages including Kukidolong, Pherima, Piphema, Medziphema Village and Tsiepama under Medziphema.

ADC James Swu briefed on Disaster Risk Reduction, CFR and Formation of Ward Disaster Management Authority. Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth provided an in-depth briefing on the CFR training, emphasizing the need for trained local responders during emergencies and Build trust with community and to take ownership and responsibility. He urged councillors and VDMA to nominate female participants from each ward to ensure inclusive representation.

During the open discussion, ward representatives raised concerns regarding the participation, stated a press release.
