Kohima, May 28 (MExN): The Chakhesang Gazetted Officers’ Association (CGOA) convened its half yearly conference with Neposo Thuluo, IAS Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Rural Development as guest speaker at Phek Town on May 28.

Exhorting the officers, Theluo reminded that they are the ambassadors of the community and urged them to work hard for the people wherever they are posted, a press release said. However, he lamented that some officers does not stay in the posting places while they continue to draw full salary. 

Thuluo also told the CGOA members that they have the social responsibility to guide community members in the right direction and therefore, “all must motivate and guide the upcoming generation to work hard and compete with others in merit.” Concerning the responsibility of the officers in conserving biodiversity, he urged them to make every possible effort to restore the forest coverage in the district by planting trees.

Earlier, CGOA President, Vekhosa Kotso shared on the objective of the conference. He appealed to the members to extend every possible support to the community members by sharing their expertise knowledge.

Deputy Commissioner Phek, Razouvolie Dozo in a short speech said, “We all must go back to our roots (village) and help our people.” Stating that Phek district is endowed with fertile soil and diverse biodiversity, he encouraged the officers to convert these rich resources into economic opportunities for the people. He also infirmed the members about the mega tree plantation plan to be organized on June 4 to commemorate World Environment Day 2022 with the theme ‘one man, one tree’ where each citizen of the district will plant at least one tree each.

Rev Dr Thepucuyi Khesoh, Pastor Phek Town Baptist Church invoked God's blessings for the programme while Kelhikha Kenye, General Secretary, CGOA led the program. Kekhriesavi Lea, Vice President, CGOA proposed the vote of thanks.
The members also resolved to construct CGOA Park in the district during 2022.
