KOHIMA, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): In the backdrop of Wednesday’s killing at A G Colony, Kohima, the Chakhesang Hoho, Kohima came out strongly against the government stating that the government which is supposedly formed with the support of the people, has failed to protect its constitutional mandate. The Hoho stated that the recent spate of killing had triggered shock waves instilling fear and insecurity among the citizen, who have been left with no option but to live in a world of uncertainty and hallucination. In such a situation, it added that the government owes it to its citizens to gurantee the safety of its citizens and that it cannot ‘be shifted by pointing fingers at any other issue so as to divert into other issues’. The hoho went on to say that the ceasefire holds no true meaning to the innocent when the government fails every now and then to implement the ground rules of the Ceasefire.
The CHK also conveyed dismay at the ‘brutal murder by terrorists who have no regard for human life’ and stated that this culture is alien to our society and should be dealt with all seriousness so that justice is delivered to one and all. The hoho condemns the monstrous act committed by the terrorist who, it states, deserves a befitting punishment in accordance with the law of the land which serve as a deterrent to incidents of such nature. The hoho expressed gratitude to the Northern Angami Public Organisation, T Khel of Kohima Village and all who rendered support and also prayed for the bereaved family and speedy recovery of the injured person.
