Chaplee Secretary, GPRN rejoinder on Doyang HEP

I have deliberately taken more than a week to issue this belated rejoinder against Mr. Renchio Yanthan on the mistaken hope that Renchio would correct himself and retract his bewildering allegation against me wherein he had issued a write up (21st July, 2012, Morung Express) accusing me of interfering in the affairs of landowners. To err is human. But the haughtiness of Renchio leave me with no option but to present my side of the story to defend my integrity and my allegiance to the assignment sanctioned by the Steering & Cabinet of NSCN/GPRN.

It is worth reminding Renchio that in any issue of the socio-economic importance one cannot ride roughshod to have his own way. He cannot afford to go rough and tumble riding on his own whims. I have been assigned by the Steering & Cabinet NSCN/GPRN to look in to the affairs of Doyang Hydro Electrical Project, DHEP/NEEPCO, Wokha and as an individual who am I to poke my nose into the affairs of the landowners. But when it comes to discharging my duties as assigned by the Government I have to stand up to the occasion where fairness is reflected in dealing with the issue and to uphold the ethical values at any cost. While discharging my duties nothing comes more important to me than to check the observance of the constitutional guidelines in order to gain legal standing in the eye of the concerned parties and people. Moreover, even the apex body of Kyong people Kyong Hoho was present as an observer to the whole episode. But when somebody like Renchio Yanthan and his two-three friends tried to create nuisance by going against the constitution to have their own way I have to make my presence felt and show them his rightful place. Because nobody can be allowed to put himself above the constitution of the Land Owners Union of bye-laws.

Renchio should not forget too soon when he was once detained at Hebron Jail few months back for rubbing the NSCN on the wrong side. He was only released after accepting the personal undertaking that he will not repeat the folly of undermining NSCN authority and play with its image.

It is therefore a matter of extreme necessity to point out that foul game at the cost of deriding the constitutional values can never be allowed and making personal attack against somebody officially assigned by the government is highly uncalled for. Let this issue be an eye opener for Renchio Yanthan and his two three friends and others that nobody is greater than people’s interests and there are bye-laws framed to safeguard the good conduct of every bonafide member.
