Kyupise Sangtam, President, Nagaland Solar Contractors Union, while addressing the valedictory function of the All Nagaland Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet on Thursday at Dimapur Government College, noted that the three Cs of character, commitment and competence were crucial in a student’s life. These represented the foundational aspects of building the leaders of tomorrow, he said.

He encouraged the student gathering to take opportunities such as the inter-collegiate meet to show case their talents in the field of sports, music and attaining the quality education and by setting the goals to achieve it.

In addition, he mentioned that professionalism in their work ethics should be inculcated along with the creation of new knowledge in today’s competitive modern world. “To achieve your aims and success I encourage the participants and the students to follow the Pareto Principal of 80:20 rule,” he said. These included focus and hard making up 20% of one’s efforts in order to achieve 80% successful results.

He also observed that the theme, ‘Metamorphosis’ of the collegiate meet was befitting the need of today’s youth to transform and bring change to a society rife with corruption which is only possible through personal change. “To transform and excel through the obstacles and hurdles you may face, remember that not all the Storms come to destroy your life, some come to clear your path as well.”

Commenting on the Miss ANSCU beauty pageant, he commented that being in a pageant is not just about one’s looks and appearance but more about the service to humanity.  Moreover, Sangtam remarked on how each individual is different and therefore each woman is unique in her own way and capability.

In addition to the valedictory function, the event for the annual Miss ANCSU was held in the same evening.
