Charity half marathons in North East

Guwahati, September 1 (MExN): Nigel Eastwood, a renowned telecom media and technology investor, will raise funds to support and inspire entrepreneurs and flood relief activities in the North East, India this September.  

Nigel, a successful entrepreneur from the UK, has been operating businesses in India for over a decade; his wife Vijaya is from Imphal, Manipur. Starting September 4, Nigel plans to complete four charity half marathons in the cities of Guwahati (September 4), Shillong (September 6), Kohima (September 8) and Imphal (September 10) to raise funds.   A number of celebrities and industrialist have agreed to join him in the ‘Run Raise Respond North East’, including John Abraham, Mary Kom, Tetseo Sisters and the Chief Ministers of Assam and Manipur, informed a press release from M-Net, which is the main sponsor of the event.   During the evening post each event, there will be a networking supper allowing local entrepreneurs and interested parties to get together and socialise. It is at these events that Nigel and his team hope to identify the “rising stars” of entrepreneurship in each of the cities, the release added.   The funds raised will go directly to a number of lucky entrepreneurs that will also receive mentoring from Nigel for 12 months. A proportion of the funds raised will also go to support Assam flood relief initiatives. One can write their donation cheques to ‘North East Development Foundation’, a not-for-profit organisation.
