CHC Pungro conducts oral health awareness camp

Pungro, March 14 (MExN): To commemorate World Oral Health Day 2023, Community Health Centre, Pungro, led by Dr Weri Mero, Dental Surgeon conducted an oral health awareness camp at Christian School, Pungro under Kiphire district on March 13.

‘The oral health camp was conducted to educate students and public about the importance of good oral health and dental hygiene keeping in mind that an unhealthy mouth, especially gum disease could increase risk of serious health problems,’ stated a press release issued by Haichikambe Pame, District Media Officer, CMO Office Kiphire.

During the awareness camp, several patients were screened, during which dental check-ups, tooth extraction and temporary fillings, fluoride application to prevent cavities, among other services, were carried out.

Mero briefed about the importance of oral hygiene for maintaining overall health benefits. Also, he stressed on the ill effects of consuming tobacco products, especially smoking and chewing gutkha.  

The medical team demonstrated proper brushing techniques to the participants. The medical team distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to the students, including leaflets explaining about oral health.
