Chedema vill flays minor’s murder

Case registered, accused under medical observation: Police

Kohima, October 27 (MExN): The Chedema Village Council (CVC) has vehemently condemned the ‘barbaric act’ of a police constable who murdered his three-year old son on October 26. The accused identified as one Talichuba, a constable in the 4th NAP and hailing from Changtongya village, Mokokchung, slit his son’s throat with a machete before allegedly trying to kill himself. On leave, he was reported to have been staying at his in-laws’ house in Chedema. In a press release issued by its Chairman Seyievinyün Medom, the CVC also called upon the right thinking citizens to condemn such a ‘barbaric act.’ It also demanded exemplary punishment against the accused by the law enforcing authority. The CVC also expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. Meanwhile, the Kohima police informed that the accused after he was taken into custody was placed under medical observation at a hospital in Kohima. As per the preliminary inquiry, the police said that the accused wounded himself on the leg with a machete. While informing that a case has been registered, the police said that, pending a thorough investigation, it would be premature to comment on the motive or on the mental condition of the accused.
