Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Chess Association, in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation, will host the first-ever Senior National Arbiter (SNA) Seminar and Exam in the state on November 28-29, at the Tourist Lodge in Dimapur.
Participants who successfully complete the seminar will earn the prestigious title of National Arbiter, valid for a lifetime. This qualification allows them to serve as Arbiters at chess events across the country and receive an honorarium for their services.
The training will focus on the intensive study of the Laws and Rules of Chess, and participants need not be chess players to attend. The only requirement is being at least 17 years of age.
Arbiters in chess perform a role similar to referees or umpires in other sports, overseeing games to ensure that the rules are followed and that players have optimal conditions to compete. They are responsible for maintaining the playing area, the equipment, and the overall environment of the competition venue.
The two-day seminar will include training sessions followed by an examination. The registration fee is set at Rs. 4000 per person, and only 40 seats are available. Interested candidates can register online through the All India Chess Federation’s official website, www.aicf.in, under the ‘SNA at Dimapur, Nagaland’ link.
