Braving rain, thousands of people from Bihari and other Hindu communities began their two-day Chhath Festival on the banks of River Dhansiri in Dimapur fasting and paying obeisance to the Sun God and Chhath Maiya. The Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj had made elaborate arrangements for the Chhath Vratis to perform puja on the river banks. The vratis will end their fast Monday morning worshiping the rising sun.
