Chhau Parva, a festival and workshop on Chhau dances, an Indian semi-classical dance, is set to be held from January 28-30 at Babu Tzubu Amphitheatre, Ungma Village, Mokokchung.


The festival is organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama an autonomous body of Ministry of culture, Government of India in collaboration with the Ungma Village Council, Mokokchung. 


The three day festival will witness performances from various artists groups from Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal and the workshops will be held for two days on 30-31 which will be exclusively for students. 


During the press conference called by the organizing committee, Supongsangla Jamir, Member, Advisor Committee of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Northeast Centre said that anyone can be a part of the festival. She also said that transportation and refreshment will be provided to anyone attending the workshop and the festival.


She added that the festival was organized with an aim to promote the art of Drama in the state and to educate the people on classical dances. “There are a lot of scope to promote drama and dance in our state taking inspirations from the folk stories and myths. We are more inclined to folk dance and music so this festival will be a good exposure for classical dance and drama,” she added.
