Kohima, January 16 (MExN): Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam, IAS, called on Administrative Heads of Departments (AHoDs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs) to prioritize innovative initiatives that ensure better service delivery to citizens during the year’s first AHoDs and HoDs meeting held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall on January 16. He emphasized the need for departments to submit new ideas for budget proposals within a week to the Finance Department, highlighting the government's focus on impactful changes.
The Chief Secretary also underscored the importance of improving attendance within departments to enhance service delivery and urged AHoDs to actively monitor and update their departmental websites. Stressing the significance of a positive user experience on these platforms, he noted that citizens increasingly rely on them for accurate information.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Alam praised the commendable efforts of departments during the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival. Despite a tight schedule, departments successfully ensured smooth traffic management, sanitation, and uninterrupted power and water supply, making the festival a grand success.
Dr. Alam also briefed the gathering on Nagaland’s presentation during the Chief Secretaries’ Conference in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2024. He highlighted the state's focus on the creative economy and tourism sector, with initiatives such as the Hornbill Festival, homestays, and unique startups receiving appreciation from the Prime Minister. Nagaland’s Center of Excellence in foreign languages, particularly for Japanese, was also lauded at the conference as a noteworthy initiative.
Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, emphasized the inclusion of people-oriented initiatives in departmental activities as part of preparations for the upcoming budget session.
The meeting, chaired by Home Commissioner Vyasan R. IAS, also provided a platform for various AHoDs and HoDs to share their views on enhancing departmental performance and service delivery.
