Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): CHILDLINE Dimapur, as part of its ongoing CHILDLINE Se Dosti campaign to create a child friendly corner at every police station in Dimapur district, has refurbished a room making it “less intimidating for juveniles” at the Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
CHILDLINE Dimapur, along with well intentioned sponsors, has made use of a room which was allotted by the police officials by whitewashing its walls and creating artworks of a child friendly nature. The objective of creating the child friendly corners in every police station is to make the police set up less intimidating for children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with the law. It also does away with the unavoidable practice and circumstance of keeping children in conflict with law along with accused adult criminals by keeping the children in a separate child friendly room.
CHILDLINE in a press release has requested all concerned and discerning citizens, children as well as adults, to make diligent usage of the toll free CHILDLINE helpline no. 1098, which is manned 24x7, if they witness or are aware of children being abused, abandoned, missing, loitering around or in distress situations.
