CHILDLINE 1098 service now in Mokokchung

Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal IAS launched CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung on June 1, at Ongpangkong Salang. The CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung is being implemented in Mokokchung through the initiatives of the Care & Support Society (C&SS) Mokokchung.  

CHILDLINE 1098 is a national 24 hours free, phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection and is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.  

A short presentation on the Introduction of CHILDLINE 1098 was given by Subonenba Longkumer, Nodal Director CHILDLINE Nagaland & Governing Board Member CHILDLINE India Foundation.  

Sachin Jaiswal IAS, while delivering a short speech said that in though our society may seem normal, but there is always a dark reality if we go deeper. He said that children in our society are being abused mentally, physically or emotionally and is often left unnoticed. He talked about how families mistreat young domestic helpers and said that we must be vocal on such issues for it is the duty of every citizen to take care and protect children who are in need of help.  

Sachin also suggested those managing the CHILDLINE to give efforts to propagate and make people aware of the CHILDLINE facility not only in the town but in all the sub-divisions and villages so that people would make the best use of the facility and the presence of CHILDLINE in the district will be more significant.  

Short speeches were delivered by Chairman, Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, Khape Koza; District Child Protection Officer, I. Moasenla and SDPO Mokokchung, while the welcome speech was delivered by Managing Director C&SS/Collaborate Director CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung, Imchawati Kichu. Vote of thanks was proposed by Member BOG, C&SS, M. Amongla Longkumer.
