Children dental health month held in GPS Yongnyah Sector-C

Longleng, May 29 (MExN): National Oral Health Program (NOHP) Longleng observed children dental health month at Government Primary School, Yongnyah Sector-C on May 27.

The children dental health month is observed to promote awareness about the importance of oral hygiene encouraging preventive Dental Care and fostering a culture of healthy food habits, stated a press release from the CMO office Longleng, Media Officer, Angshom Chemdok.

On this occasion, Dr Chumei Nyam, Dental Surgeon DH, Longleng encouraged the children to brush their teeth twice a day and limit sugar intake. He also encouraged them to eat more fruits and vegetables and to avoid tobacco products. Dr Nyam also demonstrated the brushing techniques. 

Dr Nichukholie Vupru, District Nodal Officer, NOHP Longleng spoke on the importance of oral health and he encouraged the students and parents present to make a habit of visiting dentist regularly and stated that parents must inculcate good oral hygiene habits in kids right from the beginning to prevent oral health issues.

Vote of thanks was proposed by B Baujong Phom Headmaster, Government Primary School Yongnyah Sector-C. After the programme, the children were also given free toothbrush and toothpaste. IEC materials on oral health were also distributed.
