Chümoukedima, October 13 (MExN): Four Chümoukedima-based civil society organisations have alleged that five candidates were given “illegal appointment” at the Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) but representation to the head of Municipal Affairs Department for its cancellation has been unheeded so far.
As per the CSOs, comprising of Chümoukedima Town Angamimia Mechü Krotho (CTAMK), Chümoukedima Town Women’s Organisation, Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation and Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union, the “illegal appointment” was made via appointment letter dated August 25.
Accordingly, the CSOs made the representation on September 6, which among others, stated that there are no vacant posts in the council and the appointment were appointed without following the requisition process of recruitment examination.
It further termed the appointments as “gross violation of the fundamental rights of the citizens and the bodies cannot accept this unfair means of recruitment under any circumstance.
The appointments of Grade-IV posts in the district have to be filled by the respective indigenous inhabitants of the Chümoukedima district only as per the P&AR notification, it added.
In this regard, the CSOs had given 30 days’ time period to the department to revoke the illegal appointments and any vacancies be made through open advertisement in the September 6 representation, but has not been heeded by the department so far. However, in ‘good faith,’ the CSOs stated that it is granting the department another 7 days to “terminate the said newly appointed candidates.”
“If no positive response is received the CSOs will begin agitation in stages,” it added.
