Chümoukedima Gorkha Union celebrated its silver jubilee at CTC Hall, Chümoukedima Town on December 20.

Chümoukedima, December 20 (MExN): Chümoukedima Gorkha Union (CGU) celebrated its silver jubilee with the theme, ‘New thinking, New Possibilities’ at CTC Hall, Chümoukedima Town on December 20.
The occasion was graced by Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police Dimapur as the chief guest, a press release from the CGU stated. In his speech, Sophie praised the union for having the vision to start such strong Gorkha Union 25 years ago. He said that a vibrant society is an inclusive society and encouraged the members of the CGU to work not only for its people but should also strive to contribute to the growth of the Gorkhas and the Nagas in general.
The guest of honour Nobin Pradhan, President, Nagaland Gorkha Association encouraged the gathering to cope up and contribute to the Naga society that we are living in.
Lhousito Khro, President, Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town graced the programme as special invitee. In his speech, Khro stated that Gorkhas are the peace loving community and has been living in and around India since the British era. He also motivated the Gorkhas saying they are hardworking people and the hard working culture of the Gorkhas should not be stopped.
The programme was chaired by Manju Pradhan, Youth Pastor, Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima followed with invocation by Samuel Chettri, Pastor, Nagamese Baptist Church Chümoukedima Village. Gopal Lama, President CGU delivered the presidential address while other highlights included special number by jubilee choir of CGU and cultural dance by Chümoukedima Gorkha Youth followed by Felicitation & release of Souvenir. The welcome note was pronounced by Santosh Chettri, General Secretary CGU while a word of gratitude and appreciation by Beckey Panthy, Secretary of Organising Committee.
The programme concluded with benediction by Sazo Kire, Pastor, Town Baptist Church Chümoukedima Town followed by jubilee feast.
