Officials and others during the 50th golden jubilee of Chozuba Area Sports Association flagged off at Chozuba Town on February 2.
Chozuba, February 2 (MExN): The 50th golden jubilee of Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) was flagged off on February 2 at Chozuba Town, with MLA Chotisuh Sazo as the special guest and Rudutso Vasa, President, Chozuba Range Public Organization as the guest of honour for the week-long event. A press release received here stated that Rev Khrutsoyi Luruo, Former Executive Secretary, CBCC dedicated the monolith stone. Adule Sazo, wife of Chotisuh Sazo unveiled the monolith stone. Vekruto Nyekha delivered the presidential address.
Cekrongoyi Keyho, former State Liaison Officer, YRS Government of Nagaland accentuated unity and consistency in sports and games, which are the key factors to push for excellence in this arena.
The celebration was chaired by Vekhozo Ringa, Chairman CASA Golden Jubilee Organizing Committee and Vezholhu Khusoh, Convener Souvenir Committee made the obituary reference in honour of the pioneers and other remarkable personalities who took interests in promoting sports during their leaderships.
The souvenir was released by Vamü Lohe, Former President, CASA and Special Appearance by Phisa Nienu & Phizolu Nienu. Act of blessing for the Jubilee was made by Vekusa Lohe, Chairman CABCC and Rev Vesavo Shijoh and Rev Pukrolhu Lohe blessed the event with prayers.
The release stated that CASA was started in 1973 under the initiative of few remarkable sportsmen who recognized the potential of bringing forward the youth to engage in games and sports. “Lt Bishi-o Nienu was inducted as the first President of the association. By then, under the banner of CASA, many youth in the area were able to excel in games and sports both within and outside the state,” it stated.
The 50th year jubilee celebration also welcomed the introduction of new trophies under CASA which are Lt Veduo Khusoh Football Championship Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Nopalü Khusoh & Family and a running cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the Group Champion sponsored by Sano Vamuzo & Keduchule Demo in memory of Lt Vamuzo Phesao and Lt P Demo. Also, AND-1 Club, Chozuba Town sponsoring Bssketball Trophy and Men Volleyball Championship Trophy with a Cash prize of Rs 10,000, sponsored by Vemutha Medeo & family.
Altogether, 8 villages and towns will be vying for the championship during the 2023 50th CASA golden jubilee meet.
