CHOZUBA, NOVEMBER 2 (MExN): The 3rd Gospel Football Tournament, organized by the Youth Department of Chozuba Town Baptist Church concluded on Saturday.

In the final match, Chozuba Krotho Club triumphed over Backbenchers FC with an impressive score of 5-0 to claim the championship title. The tournament’s top scorer, Khruvohu Rhakho of Knight Riders FC, netted a total of 5 goals, earning him recognition as the leading scorer. Vethota Kezo of Backbenchers FC was awarded as the best goalkeeper, while Thujosa Nienu of Chozuba Krotho Club received the player of the tournament award. All individual winners were presented with cash prizes, certificates, and a Bible.

During the valedictory service, Kuzoto Vasa, councillor of Chozuba Town Council, emphasized the importance of sports in promoting physical and mental health, social relationships, and leadership skills. He commended the Chozuba Youth Endeavor (CYE) and the Chozuba Town Baptist Church team for organizing this significant event under the theme “Together in Christ.” Vasa highlighted that this tournament is unique as it not only fosters physical growth but also aims to spread the gospel and enhance spiritual well-being.

He remarked that the event successfully brought the community together to celebrate God’s goodness and showcase the true Christian spirit of character and sportsmanship. Quoting an American coach, he stated, “All leaders are not born; they are made through hard work,” emphasizing that dedication, discipline, and a commitment to avoiding harmful habits are essential qualities for athletes.

In his concluding remarks, Vasa encouraged players to embrace both victory and defeat with resilience. “You may win or lose, but know that you are not defeated,” he said. He urged participants to remain motivated and not to be disheartened by setbacks, reminding them that true victory lies in giving their best and persevering in their endeavors.
