'Christ unites us as one family'

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): As part of the Nagaland Catholic Youth Convention nearly 2000 people including youth and members of local community participated in the 'prayerful Eucharistic Procession’ at Meluri town. “The rally started in the Convention Hall went up to Meluri town singing hymns and proclaiming their love for the Jesus present in the Holy Eucharist,” stated a pres note from the Youth Centre Desk.
The note stated that the eucharistic rally was followed by the valedictory function with Naiba Konyak, parliamentary secretary for youth resources and sports as chief guest and Rev.  Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal also the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Kohima as the guest of honour. The valedictory function was also graced by AR captain stationed at Meluri, Lichamo, ADC Meluri, public leaders of the town, priests, sisters and over 900 NCYM delegates.
Naiba Konyak winning the hearts of many youth with his sense of humor and straightforwardness encouraged them in words of Mother Teresa “A family that prays together stays together”. He asked the congregation for their unceasing prayer support for the government that is striving tirelessly to bring unity and peace in the state. He exhorted the youth to be truthful and lead a meaningful life. Naiba also attributed his success to the education and praised catholic institutions for their efforts, it stated.
It also mentioned that Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal, addressing the youth encouraged the youth to be determined and reminded the congregation that it is Christ that unites us as one family. He also lauded the community at Meluri for their hard work and sacrifice that has resulted in such a splendid event. Fr Mathew Keemattam, parish priest of St Xavier’s Church Meluri and the convenor of the convention in his message stressed on the need of unity, honesty, sincerity that our educational institutions have instilled in us.
Further, 12 youth from the state were also felicitated for their outstanding contribution towards youth development and witnessing lifestyle. The awardees include Teisovi Gerard, Medochiio Martin, Mhaleno Mercy, Agnes Phom, Anthony Shumei, Peleneizo, Pezauhaii-ii Cecilia, Dziivichiiile Denis, Kevin Magh, Robert, Visakrol, Pusazonu Pauline. The cultural fiesta and Mr and Ms NCYM hunt that followed also brought out many talents and Mr Richard and Ms Eloni were crowned the title of Mr. and Ms NCYM respectively. The four days event came to a close with the thanksgiving Eucharist on January 17 at the St. Xavier’s Church, the note said.
