55th annual games and sports meet 2022 of CHSS Dimapur flagged off by Col T Tsüknungwati Jamir, Commanding Officer, Number 2 Training Battalion, ARTC&S, Dimapur on October 26.
Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): The 55th annual games and sports meet 2022 of Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS) Dimapur was flagged off by Col T Tsüknungwati Jamir, Commanding Officer, Number 2 Training Battalion, ARTC&S, Dimapur at the school grounds on October 26.
A press note from the school stated that Col Jamir in his speech highlighted how sports plays a major role in the all round development of the children and that such extra-curricular activities makes one a wholesome citizen of the country and great leaders of tomorrow. He added that sports at the school level is not about competition, but about having fun, becoming physically active, learning the nuances of the sport and building co-ordination and teamwork; and it also gives opportunity to display one’s confidence, patience, zeal and sportsmanship.
To define the spirit of sport and sportsmanship, Col Jamir cited the example of the Michael Jordan who had confessed, “I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career, lost about 300 games and 26 times I have been trusted to take the game winning shots and missed. I have failed over and over again in my game and that is why I succeeded.”
He concluded by saying that Sports teach one to be humble, develop teamwork, forgiveness, compassion, tolerance and also the fighting spirit. An “Ethnovaganza” by the Cultural and Heritage Club gave a colourful ambience to the opening ceremony. Besides, the Taekwondo students demonstrated their art to the spectators.
Earlier, the Oath Taking was conducted by the Sports Secretary, Bikram Naik, Lighting of the Games Flames was torched by students- Ayito Shohe and Sentenkala Walling, a special number ‘Fight Song’ by Tenchamoilee and prayers by Tongchinglily and Jolly Jami.
