Chümoukedima fire destroys property worth 10 lakhs

Chümoukedima, May 2 (MExN): On receiving fire call at 8:21 pm in 7th Mile, Mhasud Stone Crusher, Chümoukedima, on May 1, the Fire & Emergency Services mobilised a quick response team from Fire Station Chumoukedima. Two Kutcha houses used as shelter for labourers were completely razed down during the inferno where property worth approximately Rs 10 lakhs was lost. The cause of fire has been identified as short circuit. Altogether 24 families were affected. No casualty was reported. While stating that the fire personnel reached the incident site only at 8:44 pm, T Shilu Jamir, Dy SP Fire & Emergency Services, in a press release said the “deplorable road from Fire Station to NH added to the difficulty and it took 21 minutes to reach the incident site which is 8 km from the Fire Station.” Three Fire Tenders along with sufficient equipment and Fire Personnel rushed to the spot and contained the fire within 40 minutes.
