Chunlikha BDO Office: KPU threatens to intensify agitation

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The Kandi Public Union (KPU) today reiterated that it will go ahead with its proposed intensified agitation from November 20 “if the Government fails to direct the Contractor for construction of RD Block office at the inaugural site Chunlikha.”

KPU also clarified that at no point of time the Union had demanded the shifting of RD Block office to Tsonsa Village, as alleged by an organization.

The Union only maintained that as per the instructions of the Government, the construction of the office should be immediately started as the contract has already been awarded on November 11, 2016, stated KPU in a press release from its Press & Media Cell.

As such there is no question of shifting the Office complex to Tsonsa or GHS compound, it added. In this connection, the allegation that the Kandi group is “sabotaging of the RD Block issue for political mileage and terming as ‘Self Interest’ is uncalled,” the Union asserted.

The intention of KPU demanding for early construction of RD office has no ulterior motives, but for the welfare of the Chunlikha range and rural people, it added.

TGPU(C) for status quo

Meanwhile, making its standpoint clear on the issue, the Tesophenyu Group Public Union (Central) today said that “BDO office ought to be constructed at the selected permanent site of the existing RD Block Chunlikha offered by land donor… located at West NH-2 Chunlikha Headquarter without fear or favour.” This is for maintaining status quo, stated a press release from TGPU(C) President Gwachung Chung and Joint Secretary S Soyhunlo Seb.

It further noted that the location is accessible and convenient with all the basic infrastructures irrespective of directions and geographical situations for the citizens of three constituent groups - Kandi group, Kithagha and Tesophenyu.

Neither Kandi group nor Tesophenyu group should interfere and complicate the existing site, but let Kithagha Public Organization (KPO) “decide the best viable location as deem fit,” TGPU(C) added.

“In the event of failure to construct BDO office at the appropriate location, the four villages of Tesophenyu group will resort to ways and means of exercising its democratic rights,” it further conveyed.
