‘Church is the only hope for youth of Nagaland’

CFD seminar dwells on role of the Churches in combating unemployment in Nagaland

Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): The Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) had its general meeting cum special seminar for the pastors and church leaders were held at Bethesda AG Church, Dimapur on August 25. 

The seminar was held under the theme, ‘The role of the Churches in combating unemployment in Nagaland with special reference to the present COVID-19 pandemic.’  Rev Fr Paul Maipan Sdb, Director Vocational Training Center, Dimapur, Prem Kumar, Pinnacle Training Institute, Dimapur, Rev Fr Roy, Director AIDA, Dimapur were the resource persons. 

They expressed the role of the churches as the most important platform in providing developmental skills to young people of Nagaland who have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The resource persons presented various trades and possible areas where our youth can seek training and equip them with job after the training. They also encouraged the pastors and church leaders to send their young people to different skill development centres with job placement opportunities.

The resource persons concluded by emphasizing on the remark “the Church is the only hope” for the spiritual, social and economical development of the Naga youths affected due to the pandemic for which the CFD can take the initiative and lead to bring positive changes in Nagaland. 

Earlier, the first session started with Rev Dr CP Anto as the Moderator. Rev Vitoshe Swu said the invocation prayer and Rev Moses Murry gave the welcome address while Nini Sekhose delivered the vote of thanks. 

New office bearers installed 

In the second session of general body meeting cum election of the new office bearers, the team of new officer bearers was installed. 

The newly selected members for 2020-2023 are: Rev Moses Murry - Chairman; Rev Vitoshe Swu – Vice-Chairman; Rev Dr CP Anto - Secretary; Rev Vangpong Phom - Joint Secretary; Rev T Ariba Imchen -treasurer; Rev Kele Angami - Finance Secretary; Yanpemo Lotha - Information Secretary.

The new team was installed by Rev Dr Dozo, advisor and the blessings was pronounced by Rev Tenga Seb.

All together, 42 pastors and church leaders from different churches attended the programme. 

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by the chairman, Rev Moses Murry and Rev RP Murry pronounced the invocation. Rev Dr CP Anto did the presentation of the CDF ministry report for the year 2018 – 2020 highlighting all the activities especially the recent COVID-19 Pandemic relief services. 

Rev Moses Murry, chairman tabled the CFD amended constitution. Rev Dr N Paphino pronounced the word of appreciation to the former CFD office bearers for their tireless effort.
