CII Nagaland to organize seminar on May 3

DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): The Confederation of India Industry (CII) is set to organize a seminar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in Foreign Trade’ at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur on May 3.

A press note from the CII, Nagaland Branch stated that the growing economic integration among the countries across the globe is leading to a major transformation in the overall import export scenario. With the emergence of World Trade Organization and regional trading blocks, formed by different countries, the trade barriers have been removed to a great extent allowing the free flow movement of goods and services, it added.

Countries which have taken the advantage of this opportunity have immensely been benefitted occupying a wider market for the goods and services produced by them, the CII stated.

The North East region, which shares its boundary withBangladesh, Bhutan, China and Myanmar, is yet to be integrated with this economic integration. While trade with Bangladesh and Bhutan has assumed importance in the wake of attempts to forge greater South Asian regional co-operation, trade with Myanmar has acquired added significance in the context of ‘Act East’ policy because of Myanmar’s geographical proximity to the prosperous economies of South-East Asia. The CII said that in order to capitalize the situation the entrepreneurs of the region needs to be well versed with the import and export regime and other related issues.

The upcoming seminar is being organized in this context by the CII in association with EXIM Bank. The seminar, it informed, will create an interface with key stakeholders for generating awareness on the issues which can provide much needed impetus towards the growth of international trade in the region.

The CII has asked all interested entrepreneurs who are into export-import business in particular and all the interested upcoming entrepreneurs to participate in the seminar, free of registration fees.

It will be graced by Parliamentary Secretary Higher and Technical Education, Deo Nukhu and the special guest will be Commissioner & Secretary Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, MK Mero.
