Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): For the benefit of the citizens of Dimapur, city bus services will be operational from the first week of September 2018. This was approved during the Dimapur District Planning and Development Board meeting held on August 14.
Advisor Power Department, elected members from Dimapur district including Deputy Speaker Zhaleo Rio, Advisor Power also Chairman DPDB Dimapur Tovihoto and MLA Moatoshi attended the meeting and actively took part in the deliberation.
Tovihoto observed that operation of city bus service in Dimapur was a long felt need of the public. Initially four buses are set to ply from Dimapur to Chumukedima and Chumukedima to Dimapur. A fleet of 10 more buses under renovation will be coming soon and for which the house agreed to extend the bus services to Medziphema, Niuland, Doyapur etc later on.
AGM, Nagaland State Transport, Thomas informed that 2 pink buses will ferry only women from Dimapur to Kohima. In the meeting, all the elected members expressed concern with regard to the requirements in the Dimapur district hospital.
With regard to the approach road from the main road to the Dimapur district hospital compound, the Executive Engineer assured to take up the work in the next phase. The house also decided to write to the Commissioner Police for deputing traffic police in the hospital compound.
