Clarification & non cooperation to USSC

The Thsingar village is constrained to seek clarification from the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) in respect of the Conference press note which was published on 29th Dec.2012 at local dailies against the leadership of Shri. T. Likhumse Sangtam, as the president of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation for the tenure 2012-15, where it had been stated that the United Sangtam Students’ Conference denounced his leadership and would not use his service in any manner within the Sangtam community for a period of 3 (three) years for his antagonism against the wishes and welfare of the Sangtam Community and the USSC declares its non-cooperation to the Federation….

Basing on the USSC press statements, the Thsingar village had invited Shri Likhumse Sangtam for deliberation and explanation on the issue and hereby urgently seek clarification from the Conference about its validity and justification for taken such a drastic step against him within the time frame of 10 (ten) days from the publication of this press note before the Thsingar Village, Sangtams Community, Eastern Nagas and Nagas in general through media. The Thsingar village knowing the entire play and autocratic of the present USSC officials in this particular issue declares its non-cooperation to the USSC. Meanwhile, in the greater interest of the Eastern Nagas the Thsingar village shall extend its fullest cooperation to the Easter Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF).

Furthermore, for the better understanding and consumption to all the readers particularly for the Sangtam general public, the Thsingar village felt it vital necessary to underscore on the issue as and how Shri T.Likhumse Sangtam was elected as the President ENSF for the tenure 2012-15. On 12th Dec. 2012 at Noklak, the Khiamnuingan Students’ Union cutting across tribal feelings in the interest of the Eastern Naga Students’ community has proposed his candidature before the ENSF nominating Committee and his candidature has duly mandated by the other 4 (four) Federating unit of the ENSF and accordingly the Nominating Committee has referred his candidature to the constitution of the Federation to see any provision and legitimacy under the constitution and where Article 13 clause (iii) of the constitution has empowered the Nominating Committee to consider any mater to make a strong and active Federation in the process of electing and nominating the ENSF office bearers, it may also be stated that in non of the Article,  clause or sub-clause of the constitution of the Federation has never mention that a candidates should be forwarded only on tribal interest. Therefore, his nomination and elected as the president of the Federation is legitimate and justified under provision of the constitution as he too belongs to Eastern Naga by blood and had not breached any part of resolution or constitution of both USSC and Federation. So the allegation imposed upon him by the Conference is just a sheer manipulation to spoil his status initiated by few officials, as his nomination was moved and consented by the 5(five) Federating units of the Federation. Therefore, the question of his violation to the interest and welfare of the Sangtam community doesn’t arise at all as claimed and sought by the Conference on 17th Dec.2012. The whole justification in favour of his nomination was made cleared by the  Federation to the conference through its official letter and subsequently on 19th Dec.2012, the 5(five) Federating units of the Federation has published an appreciation and acknowledgment to his leadership and further assured to extend their fullest support and cooperation under his president ship. This clearly indicates that he had been elected in the larger interest of the Eastern Naga students’ community. Apart from his candidature, the USSC has forwarded 3(three) candidates which has been considered and accepted by the nominating committee and the respective post were offered to them having seen their experience and caliber.

The Thsingar village is of the view that given president ship to him at this context to lead ENSF is indeed a matter of pride and privilege to Sangtam tribe particularly for the Sangtam students’ community, where the USSC should convey a word of gratitude to other Federating units for their kind gesture towards Sangtams in spite of declaring non-cooperation to Federation. It may be pointed out that the only reason of USSC opposition to his leadership is that there should not be more than 3(three) USSC representatives in the ENSF and why KSU has forwarded his candidature as per the Conference letter No. Nill dated 27th Dec. 2012 addressed to Speaker office which seemed to be too invalid and  immature reason to be opposed as there is no resolution or the constitution of the USSC restricting  more than 3(three) members to be in ENSF as claimed  by the Conference. On account of all these above statements of the USSC charges on his nomination, the Thsingar village found no genuine and convincing reason and is aggrieved with the ridiculous decision of the Conference and strongly asserts that the Conference platform has been misused by few vested USSC officials for their personal benefits and interest for the best reason known to the officials involved particularly in this unnecessary issue and further states that stern action should be instantly initiated against those few selfish leaders in the USSC who are defaming the image of Sangtams for their personal reasons. Furthermore, the Thsingar village considering the ENSF as the apex Students organization of the Eastern Nagas felt that few USSC officials has no power and authority to overrule the decision of the Federation for their personal purpose in any manner. In addition, the Thsingar village called upon the entire Sangtam community to ponder over the issue to safeguard the younger generation and a good image of the Sangtams in the eyes of the Eastern Nagas and Nagas in general before another blunder is committed under the present leaders of the USSC.

Thanking you.
