Clarification of ZC (NEI) press statement dated 18th Sept 2012

This press statement by official Naga United Village Council is directly or indirectly in replying to the ZC (NEI) press statement dated 18th September 2012, Nagaland Post, that demanded the clarification from the NUVI Council.

The press statement given on 11th September 2012 in the name of the Naga United Village Council (NUVI) by so called Head GB Khehoi, Chairman Sazo Angami and Secretary C Pili Pochury are not official, as their names were not there in the list of the Naga Tribal Representatives that submitted the representation to the Nagaland Government through the Honourable Forest Minister, Nagaland on 19th January 2009.

Hence, both the Nagaland Government and ZC (NEI) must not consider the press statement by few individuals, whose names and signatures were not included in the list of the agreement papers that agreed to form the Naga United Village Instead of Inavi/Naga United Village.

Further, it is clarified that, the present official Naga United Village Council (INTANKI) has recently submitted its memorandum to the Nagaland Chief Secretary Kohima, that, it shall agree to extend its co-operation to the Nagaland Government if fulfilled its assurances given by the Nagaland Chief Minister Mr. N Rio on 19th June 2009, at the Zonal Council hall Kohima. See the Nagaland Post 21st June 2009; quote “Armed with the endorsement from the house, Rio appealed the encroachers to voluntarily vacate themselves without eviction and confrontation. He said the Government was ready to extend relief and also look into the welfare of the encroachers if they voluntarily vacate the area.

In support of which, the Govt. of Nagaland gave clarification on Intanki issue. See the Nagaland Post dated September 12th, 2012, Quote “According to Mero, the court had stated that is any representation for allotment of alternative land was made, it would be considered by the Government in accordance with Law.

It is to make known to one and all that, Intanki Reserved Forest, whether it belonged to any individual, any tribe or it belonged to India Government or Nagaland Government is not our concern. Our Naga United Village settlers concern was that, according to the declaration by Forest Department of Nagaland of its “Status report on Intanki National Park as on 20.06.2009, the village Beisumpuikam was the first encroached village within the Intanki National Park”. And few other villagers near the Beisumpuikam too declared within the Intanki National Park. Basing on all those facts we established Inavi/Naga United Village INTANKI.

Now, the Nagaland Government had suggested to us further alternative arrangement for the landless settlers of Naga United Village. In fact, Inavi Village is no more, after when the headmen of Inavi Village and other 14 tribes of Naga United Village settlers had jointly arrived at a decision to call Naga United Village only.

All the 14 tribes representatives consist of 24 (Twenty four) tribes Leaders signatures are apprehended herewith for easy reference.

The question of “who is the owner of Intanki Forest?” does not arise. But our prayer is that, Nagaland Government must grant alternative mean either financially or “plot-of-land” to the settlers of the Naga United Village (Official). The signatories of the applicants are appended herewith:

Yours faithfully,
