Clarification on the Pungro killing

DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): In response to the allegation made by TC Tajingki whose family was killed at Pungro on February 8, 2007, Lumthure, a UDA in the SDO(C) office in Pungro, sought to clarify it saying that the claim was “absolutely false baseless.”

Lumthure said that on the particular day, both the families had been present due to summons by the DB’s court as per the petition filed by late TC Kimuse (Rtd. Teacher), and not as alleged by Tajingki. It was added that while in the middle of the case, the mob came and overpowered the Court and took the family outside but before leaving, the deceased and the mob had been seen discussing very peacefully outside the court premises. The mob had pronounced in front of hundreds of people that they had come to take them to  discuss some important tribal issues in the village adding that it had nothing to do with the case between our two families.

Lumthure stated that the allegation made by the two brothers of the deceased family on him and his family along with Tsulimthong and Alo of Yimchunger Region NSCN (IM) cadres saying that the victims had been kidnapped, tortured mercilessly and killed was totally false. He added that the case was in no way connected to the cadres who had never shown up at the court premises and so he wished to clarify and declare that he had no knowledge or involvement in the killing of TC Tajingki’s families.
