DIMAPUR, AUGUST 18 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) today informed classes for the science stream are yet to start at the Government Higher Secondary School Kiphire, even as the academic year 2022-23 is coming to an end.

A press release from the conference expressed gratitude to the Department of School Education and the Government of Nagaland for introducing the science stream at GHSS Kiphire, which, it stated is a long-awaited dream and aspiration of the people of Kiphire district.

However, it informed that out of 5 science teachers who have been deployed to GHSS Kiphire, 2 teachers are yet to join their posting place up to date. The USSC therefore appealed to the concerned department to direct the teachers who are posted at Kiphire to join their respective posting places and start the class within 10 days as per the government notification dated July 21, 2022.

It also informed that GHSS Kiphire is functioning with a shortage of 2 English (PGT) and 1 Sociology (PGT) teachers since the upgradation of Higher Secondary School despite repeated representations and ultimatums made by the USSC and the school authority.

The conference asked the competent authority to expedite and take up the genuine demand on top priority for the welfare of the student community of the region at the earliest time.

The USSC informed that it visited the Government Higher Secondary School Kiphire and discovered that the school is functioning with a shortage of school benches and desks due to limited resources. The conference donated school benches and desks for classes XI and XII and encouraged students and the teaching faculty to give their best for good results in their academics.
