‘Cleanest Colony’ for better Dimapur winners announced

Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): The panel of judges under the aegis of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for A Better Dimapur initiative of ‘Cleanest Colony Competition 2021’ has and selected winners of the First, Second and Third Quarter.

The house during a meeting held on October 4, selected the following winners: 

1st Quarter (January, February & March)
Big Colony - Duncan colony
Small Colony - Sifty Colony

2nd Quarter (April, May & June)
Big Colony - Nuton Basti colony
Small Colony - Aokong Colony

3rd Quarter (July, August & September)
Big Colony - Lengrijan Colony
Small Colony - Niu Colony

Meanwhile, the team in a press release stated that the judges advised all the colonies under DMC to keep their colony clean and also encouraged all the sanitation committee from every colony to mobilize residents and take active part in the competition and initiate cleanliness drive from time to time. The team also appealed the public to maintain civic sense and have a community mindset, not for money or prize but for a better Dimapur.

This year the judging is purely based on ten criteria, Viz Garbage management, drainage management, Burning of waste, community toilet, community participation, sanitation committee activities, jungle/foliage clearance, tobacco free zone, construction & demolition waste not littered/ obstructing traffic or general public and clearance of RST (Residential sanitation Tax) upto date. Under DMC, out of 23 wards there are 73 small colonies and 22 large colonies.
There will be no elimination round and subsequently all colonies will be given points every month, it stated. The prizes for winning colony are Rs 100000 (winner); Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 for 1st and 2nd runners up respectively for both small and big colony categories. Prizes of Rs 10,000 respectively will be also given on quarterly basis both for small and big colonies.
