CM inaugurates 1st Nagaland International Trade Expo

Dimapur, November 24 (DIPR): Chief Minister TR Zeliang today inaugurated the first Nagaland International Trade Expo organized by Business Association of Nagaland (BAN) with support from Government of Nagaland at Agri Expo, Dimapur.   Zeliang called on the gathering, majority of them school children, to choose the right profession in life and sustain it. On the ongoing construction of four lane road between Kohima and Dimapur, he said the contracts were allotted to two companies with an agreement to finish the works in 3 years. In addition, they will also maintain the existing road. After completion of the project, the companies will maintain the road for four years, failing which, they will be blacklisted, the CM informed.   With regard to the deplorable road condition in Dimapur, he said all necessary arrangements are being made and the construction works will start soon.  

Complimenting BAN for organizing the expo, Zeliang said such programme gives opportunity to the entrepreneurs and manufacturers to showcase their products to prospective customers besides giving opportunity for investors to look for potential business and technology to invest in. He observed that the expo would be an opportunity for Naga youth to learn and see many things.  

Nagaland has no shortage in natural resources besides it being recognized as a biodiversity hotspot with variety of medicinal plants and herbs, he said, adding there is tremendous scope for the people.  

The Government can at best be the facilitator in form of policy making and direction, and also identify the bottleneck and hurdles faced in the business, Zeliang added.  

The inaugural function was chaired by general secretary, BAN, Dr. Khekhugha Muru, while welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by president, BAN, Thungbemo Murry and treasurer, BAN, Mongkum Jamir.  

The expo will conclude on November 30.
