CM responds to Chishi over election funding allegation

DIMAPUR, MAY 25 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has issued a rejoinder to the allegation made by former Chief Minister KL Chishi that he financed the NPF candidate against Chishi in 32 Atoizu A/C in the last state general election.

Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) media and communication cell in a rejoinder said Rio did not assist the NPF candidate with even a single rupee nor did he meet with the said candidate.

“The NDPP and BJP fought on a common platform and the joint effort had nothing to do with the NPF, whoever might be the informer of Mr. K L Chishi, has his calculations wrong, and the intention is definitely ill-motivated,” the CMO stated.

It has therefore termed the allegation made by a senior leader, who is also a former Chief Minister without any justification or authentic proof as shocking and unbecoming.

KL Chishi on Thursday has stated that Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had no right to go against the NPF candidate in the Lok Sabha by-election while alleging that he was a financer of NPF candidate at 32 Atoizu A/C n the last state general election.

Rio also clarified that in 1990, when KL Chishi was the then Chief Minister, he was a first time MLA and one of the junior members of the House and of the ministry.

“The fact of the matter is that the seniors had betrayed him and that is the reason why the government led by K.L. Chishi could not survive,” Rio stated.
