CM visits Naga Heritage Village to assess preparations for the 25th Hornbill Festival

With the Hornbill Festival 2024 turning 25 this year, the government is making big plans for the celebration.  After a meeting Hornbill Festival Ministerial Committee was convened on March 2, the Chief Minister along with the committee and other line department head visited the Naga Heritage Village today. 

Taking to social media platform X, the CM commented, "Visited the Naga Heritage Village to oversee preparations for the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival."

A member of the legislative assembly who accompanied the CM informed that a site inspection was undertaken at the Heritage Village, Kisama in the morning where assessment on unutilised vacant land were taken into account. 

During the meeting last held, the committee had recommended revamping the infrastructure at the Heritage Village, allocate more parking spots and undertake environmental initiatives.  According to the legislature, the sites vacant in the area under Heritage Village will be taken up for construction of parking spaces and plantation. 

As per the source, major renovation will also be taken up by concerned government department.  It was informed that the Chief Minister has directed the department to execute work plan within a week.  As per the timeline, it is projected to complete all works by October this year. However, the budget for the upcoming Hornbill Festival was not made known during the time of filing the report. 

The CM was accompanied by Tourism Minister, Temjen Imna Along, Women Resource Development and Horticulture Minister, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Advisor, Zhaleo Rio, Advisor to Chief Minister Abu Metha, other legislators, administrative and departmental heads.
