CM wishes meaningful festival to Zeliang community

Kohima, October 29 (MExN): The Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang, on behalf of the Government of Nagaland, has extended greetings to the Zeliang community on the occasion of Chega-Gadi/ Lamsimngyi/ Kwakpo festival, one of the most important festivals of the Zeliang tribe.  

During the festival, which is marked by feasting, merry-making and thanksgiving, it is believed that Almighty God showers blessings upon his people with rich harvest and good health, the CM said in a message. Traditionally, the date of the celebration often differed between communities and villages and was usually fixed according to their convenience, but today it is celebrated from October 30-31 every year, it was informed.  

“It is a festival of joy, love, forgiveness and rest and is celebrated to invoke God’s blessings on his people and to remind us of our rich cultural heritage and traditional values which are guiding principles rooted in honesty, respect, hard-work, courage and kindness,” Zeliang stated. “May these golden values practiced by our forefathers since time immemorial continue to be part of our way of daily life.”  

He wished the Zeliang community a happy and meaningful Chega Gadi/ Lamsimngyi/ Kwakpo celebration in the best of health and spirit.
