CMC Molungkimong wins Supongmeren Memorial Volleyball Trophy

The winners of the Supongmeren Memorial Volleyball Trophy along with organizers and officials.

MOKOKCHUNG, JANUARY 12 (MExN): The 4th Supongmeren Memorial Volleyball Trophy was held at Molungkimong from January 11 to 12 with the theme ‘One Goal, One Spirit.’

The volleyball trophy is organised in memory of late Supongmeren who hailed from Molungkimong village under Mokokchung district. He was a torch bearer of Christianity in the Ao area, education, peacemaker and writer in Ao Naga literature. This trophy is organised to forge the spirit of peace and unity.

The final match was graced by Er J Lanu Longcher, Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department Kohima. He urged all players to uphold the spirit of the game and to be disciplined in all walks of life. He encouraged the people to foster forgiveness, peace and harmony among friends and villages.

The final match was played between MH 10 Kohima and CMC Molungkimong, where CMC Molungkimong emerged as winner by 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.

9 teams participated in the event. The winner walked away with a cash price of Rs 50,000, runners up received Rs 30,000, and the third price was bagged by Changtongya Volleyball Association receiving Rs 20,000. The fourth placed team was Khar who bagged Rs 10,000.
